Wrapping Up!

As promised, here's my final blog post of the semester. I used my drop weeks and tokens to save me extra work during these last few weeks, so this is purely a post for my own satisfaction. I wanted to say how much I enjoyed this class, and that I thought the semester went smoothly. This was my third semester in grad school and my third semester participating in online learning. In previous classes, I felt constrained by deadlines, discussion requirements, and homework. At times, I felt like remote school was dictating how I structure my week. With this class, it was all different. Being able to work when I want and wrap it all up in a participation log felt liberating, and it is the way other online classes should work. If I had to complete all the work for the week on a Saturday, I could without penalty. Vanessa and Omer conducted the class in a way that respected us as adult learners, and it was a great way to spend summer school.

Summer school! What a concept. The dread of younger students and a grim reality for college students. Despite that, I learned meaningful concepts in this class and gained knowledge that I'll take with me throughout grad school and my professional career. Thinking about and working on my PLN will keep me occupied and online. I wasn't a stranger to Web 2.0 before this class, and now I'm a true web2.0 surfer. There are some great tools I explored in this class that I'll keep in my library, and some that are still waiting for me to discover. Sutori, Google Maps for Education, and Canva are some of the tools that I'll be working with more closely, for example.

I'm happy to have worked with this group over the summer! We learned a lot from each other and produced some outstanding projects this semester. Thank you to my classmates who visited my blog and left comments, I appreciate the hits and the conversations. I'm sure I'll see some of you next semester or in the future, and if there are any graduates in the class, congrats!

Wrapping up, I had a superb summer school experience. Smooth class, interesting material, great teachers, and awesome classmates. Next semester, I'm back to two classes. For now, I'm looking at a few weeks of SUMMER VACATION. Two words that never sounded sweeter.

Until next time, 😎
